Legacy

My parents are immigrants,

Immigrants that never got a chance.

They never went to college,

didn’t even graduate high school.

They were left with minimum wage

and hopes that I,

a little girl with big dreams,

would build the legacy they never got to.

That I would start from the bottom and end up at the top.

That I would live the American dream.
